not to discourage, but ive heard bad things about pullies.
it may turn out to be money better spent onto other mods

im debating whether to get the March 3 piece aluminum set (crank, alt and water pump) or the 2 piece steel set (crank and alt).... from what i heard, it would be easier to spin the aluminum pullies rather than the steel pullies, so the aluminum pullies free up more hp for the wheels... if it's true, how much more power would aluminum pullies produce from the steel ones? cuz if it's barely any power, why am i going to pay twice as much for aluminum pullies when i can get almost the same ammount of power for $80 bucks?

I doubt you will see more than 5 HP either way you go, if that.

why do you say that? ive read some posts where people dont think they work, and i've read that some people get gains from it. i have a friend who has a 89 camaro and busted out with a .15 gain on the 1/4 mile by just adding the crank pulley...if i gained .2 by just installing a crank and alt pulley, i think i'd be str8 with that

ive heard of peoples cars stalling out at red lights

id take the 80$ and buy a dremel and a few carbide bits, then port that intake. could get 15hp from that, and you get to keep the dremel

i had the march 2 pulley kit on my 87 iroc, but i only installed the crank.

since the 3rd gens are belt driven waterpumps there is a much bigger gain to be had than on the 4th gens. i noticed a nice seat of the pants gain, and it seemed to pull a bit harder in the top end, and rev up faster.

since i didn't install the alt pulley i could notice a small drop in voltage at lights, but i never stalled out, i even had my fans rigged on a switch, and i would run those in traffic with no stalling due to voltage drops.

if you can get one for $75-100 go for it, spending more for the 3 piece sets i don't think is quite worth it though.

I installed a crank pulley on my 91 tpi 350. Reved a little quicker, but with a good load on the electrical system at idle the battery would go into discharge. No big problem, as soon as the car had a few revs on it all was ok. But no huge performance gain.

thanks everyone for your replies and help... just finished installing my march crank and alt pulley and now she's running like a champ. it revs quicker and feels a lot nicer... alt voltage never goes below 13 at idle... and when im driving, it's usually where it used to be before i put the pulley - around 14 to 14.5

i can feel a difference in it to be honest with you. i ran my friends stang 5.0 and i raced him to see if there was any difference before and after the installation of my pulleys. i pulled on him quicker when i put the pulley's on, but not by much... i'd say it gave me a tenth or two off my time slip

and kevin, i already had a dremel so before i put the pulleys, i took off my intake and grinded those blocks right next to the throttle body off... i feel a difference, but it's not a SOTP difference. next stop, AFPR and MSD 6al, and hopefully some hooker LT's for christmas hehe

DJ, March says that you should see 12-15 HP. I usually take manufacturer's claims and quarter them to get a realistic figure.
