Power Antenna Replacement
I need to replace the power antenna on my 88 IROC. I found one on eBay (it is universal) for $24.95+s&h. Anybody ever done it? How do you go about this task?

Re: Power Antenna Replacement
I'm getting ready to fix mine as well, but rather than hack something to make a universal one fit I'm replacing the plastic cable in my old one. You can buy a repair kit from GM.

Re: Power Antenna Replacement
Jack up the front pass. side of your car and remove the wheele and inner fender liner and you can access the pwr antenna and if you have a TA,you can remove the fender vent to give you a window to get at it thru.

Re: Power Antenna Replacement
a universal unit wont work as the mast is too short. i ran into this issue when replacing the unit on my 83. i went and bought a factory unit instead.

Re: Power Antenna Replacement
I had the same problem, the universal units are pretty much designed for small import cars. I found a good one in a junkyard, and it bolted right in. Pull out the inner fender (plastic) from the wheel well, and turn the wheels to the right. You will have plenty of room to work on it from there.
Good luck
