hey guys, my ex girlfriend has a 1992 firebird a4 with about 100,000 miles on the clock, it is completly stock and shes had it for a couple weeks, and since she bought it, its had the "INFL. RESP." warning light on...if anyone can give me some information on what the light is, it would be greatly appreciated, and im sorry if this is a dumb question! thanks in advance

 

Never heard of it. I know what INFL REST is but not RESP. What does it do? When you start the car, it tells you that it is checking the Inflatable Restraint aka driver airbag. After a bit, it should go off. If it stays on, you need to check the fuses and see if that is the problem. If not, take it to a dealership. DO NOT TRY FIX IT YOURSELF or you might trigger the airbag to deploy.

 

sounds like something to do with the air bag system. put a paper clip in the upper right 2 holes of the ALDL connector and then turn the key to the start pos. it will flash ones and then twice . thats code 12. it will do this 3 times then start spiting out codes.
write the code/s down that it gives you then go to thirdgen.org an deciper it.
iv never delt with airbags before so that might be a dealer ques.

 

i hope the person before didnt get in a crash and replace the airbag unit with stuffing
where i live it is illegal to sell a car that came with airbags without telling them if the airbag has been removed.
