I was just informed that my town does not appriciate cars driving around with open headers and no hood, So I guess it's time to put the y pipe and the hood on. It looks like I might have some hood clearance issues. Is anyone out there running a performer intake and carb with a stock hood, and if so what are you using for an air filter.

i was using a stock 84 hood with a 600cfm edelbrock and a performer...just barely was enough to close...you may need to take off the hood insulation to clear...i was using a normal drop base air cleaner with a 3 inch filter

 

You shouldn't have much of a problem, I run a Performer RPM under my stock hood with a standard drop base 14x3 inch aircleaner, the standard Performer is slightly shorter so...

 

I ran the Performer RPM 7101 intake and 1406 carb with a 14x3 drop base cleaner and my hood barely rubbed the wingnut on my 86 Trans Am.

 

Im using a performer EPS, which is about an inch taller than a performer, with a holley 600 and a K&N 14 by 3 air cleaner, plenty of room to spare, and im still using the stock hood
