I think most people put pipe plugs in them.

But yes, those AIR tubes are annoying no matter what. I adjusted the timing today and the tube that runs around the back got in the way of the wrench. Moving it out of the way requires snaking it underneath the spark plugs on the passenger side.

Then hooking up the timing light, those hot AIR tubes by the #1 plug want to sizzle my thumb.

ARGH!

I bought headers without the air tubes, and replaced the cat with one that didnt have the tube. Im not sure that would work in NY, though. Alot of guys also weld them closed.

Yeah they suck. I loosened the exhaust manifolds, and just twisted and turned them till they broke. The tube running down to the cat was the worst. If you can cut the tubes at the manifolds, the little ones on each port, its supposed to be easier. A saw, or dremel to cut them off. Then you can crimp them and have them welded. Just a thought.

Its been so long since I had mine, I forgot what they even looked like.

Huh? I have no air tubes, and the engine hasnt been out. Ill agree it sucks, but the engine doesnt have to come out. I removed the manifolds, and the smog pump, and the catalytic converter, and all the lines with the engine in.

Might take a few extra tools, maybe even a few they dont make.

Edit: I just realized, he has a TPI. I have a Tbi, so It might be different. If it is, ignore my input.

Yeah man,TPI is much harder to get to the back of the engine bay...I could see the TBI being SOOO much easier.
