Overheating with my A/C on in traffic

How come my car overheats with the A/C on in traffic? On the freeway it's fine. I've got the single fan setup. Could GM be so stupid as to not know their single fan setup will cause overheating problems with the A/C on while sitting in traffic? Or is it just my car? It's ironic because you can't turn the A/C on when you need it the most (in traffic jams).

i dont see how the a/c and cooling system are related? Except for the fact that the a/c components will give off some heat but shouldnt be enough to make your engine overheat....that problem confuses me

I think the A/C components produce heat while making the engine work harder - even more heat..

i don't know why the a/c makes the engine hot ,but maybe your radiator is dirty. i had the same problem and got it cleaned now it works fine.

A/c Use means more work for the engine = hotter engine.

Where do you think the condenser sits? Right in front of your radiator. If it cools air, the heat has to go somewhere. That is what the fins are for. It heats up the already hot air and passes it along to your radiator which needs cool air.
