Exclamation ok everyone i need ur help

alright.. here goes...

I got me an.... 89 V6 2.8L Pontiac Firebird, bored out a lil with a performance cam, new EFI, K&N Filtercharger,

question is....

WHAT IS EVERYTHING THAT I CAN DO TOO IT?.... short of gettin a new engine... haha wich i may end up doin.. but i just wanted too weigh my options from some of the more experienced... more knowledgeable ppl out there.

as is, it already eats up ricers and stangs pretty good, everyone who rides in it is surprised it's a V6, hell it surprises me sometimes too. I have a super fast shift and it hugs corners really well. My mechanic has done a good job at tweakin it out the best he can with what im runnin right now.

so, any advice and what not from anyone who cares enough too help me out a bit here, would be much appreciated.

thanks dudes...
light em up

let me start off with some back ground info... i owned an 87 2.8 camaro, exact same car misun appearance differences. the motor was stock but other than that it was the same. the way i see it you have a few options...

1. continue modding the v6, bore it out stroke it, stuff like that. rebuild with forged internals and the like then throw on a set of twin turbos from a fiero. and be done with it.

2. do an engine swap. i wouldnt advise this one. you would need basically a completel donor car with the drive train and all that in order to swap engines. even then you would probably only end up with a 305. would cost more than just getting a different car.

3. get a v8 car. look for an l98 tho, you can check by the vin. 8th number over is an 8. this option is your best bet. if you stay with the same insurance company and policy, your rates might go up. if they do, reduce your coverage. i did that and now i pay less for my 91 than i did for my 87. the l98 will have the greatest potential of them all.

4. this one goes with option number 3. buy a complete rolling chassis, they go for around 700 here and they are in ok condition. drop in a lt1 intaked 355 with forged internals and a 100 shot or so of nitrous. would probably push you to low 12's or so in the 1320. you would need to beef up the car tho. i would suggest taking care of everything BEFORE you drop in the engine. paint, bodywork, suspension parts, subframe connectors, new rear end (9 inch or 12 bolt) and get a nice Th350 tranny built up for around 700 bucks.then you would have a VERY nice car that you built yourself and you know inside and out.

hope this helps.

i dont honestly know anyone that has wanted to keep their f-bods a v6 but if you do i would try to adapt a lot of mods that those fiero people do.

the only things i would know or think of doing would be to try to bump up the compression, possibly get a second set of heads seems how you should be able to find many people using them as door stoppers and try to do some grinding, porting, to get them to flow better, maybe do the same things for the intake and such. just keep working at getting as much air and fuel into the cylinder as possible just like any other engine. then try getting someone to burn a custom chip for your combo. like i said ive never really thought of doing this when i owned my 89rs with a 2.8 i never thought that it had any worthwhile potential so i just left it alone and drove it for the winter but thats me.

another thought is to do mostly the same things as the v8s and put diffferent gears in it and bolt on better suspension pieces. other than that i would say you could do the v8 thing and that would give you endless possibilities. just my .02

good luck

You could get a 3.1L intake manifold, plentum and a 3.4 throttel body.
Those are the best flowing intake parts form all 3 V6,60's.
