is o2 sensor needed with mechanical carb?

The original owner of my car swapped the CC quadrajet with a mechanical one. He also installed Hedman headers and a Flowmaster exhaust. I searched for the oxygen sensor and could not find it.

From what I understand, a non-CC quadrajet doesn't have a mixture control solenoid to adjust air/fuel mix anyway. So do I even need an oxygen sensor?

If I DO need one, where would it be, because I got under the car and searched the headers and exhaust pipes in detail and did not see one!

It's not needed unless you want to run an A/F mixture gauge, but they're not very accurate anyway.

You *might* need one, based on what year the car is registered as, and the emission laws in your state- Just not sure what it would hook up to, a carb'ed engine probably doesn't have an engine computer-
