Re: nitrous

Yea, and the stock fuel pump will never keep up with that....

Re: nitrous

My 305 seen big gains with the 100 shot but adding the extra 50hp more only made a slight improvment. I gained 18 mph with the 100shot and only 20.5 with the 150 shot. Seemed like the engine didn't want anymore. I could be wrong and possibly I didn't experiment/tune enough with it but that was my experience.

Is this a 305 or 350? 100+octane unleaded fuel is good insurance. A fuel pressure safety switch is not only cheap but it's the best way to see if your pump can keep up when the fuel solenoid opens. A fuel pressure guage is nice to have.

Working with a 50 or 75hp shot, and then a 100, then 150, then 200 is a smart way to get into the swing of things. If he's never done it, he may have issues of the power surge associated with that kind of hit. The torque gain alone will be roughly an added 350ft-lbs of TQ. Tires will spin immediately if they're not sticky. If they are sticky, the rear axle Might snap, Wheelhop could set in. Engaging the nitrous at a low RPM(say under 3000rpm) could cause big problems also.

Goodluck! Video cameras are priceless FYI!

Re: nitrous

stock short block run a wet 100, keep the 150 for when youve got $$ on the line.
if you run a tpi setup the spray likes siamese runners and ported base better, as a wet shot traveling 15 plus inches is IFFY.

the hoses that come with a 5151 NOS kit are too long--fab your own or get em made mounted the engine side of the strut towers--14 inches wont give you pulsation in the line but give you soft hit for that 3d gen suspension.

200 on a wet spraybar setup is BORDERLINE[at least NOS--but NXs nozzle kit looks way worse]. ask me how i know on the NOS kit... 175 will keep your ET very close and have much less distribution problems.
stock fuel pump with wet kit= bad idea when a 255 pump is what? 80 bucks?
also iron TPI head chambers are not as efficient as vette ones so yank some timng for sure. hope this kinda helps

SEMI RELATED
I will talk to Mike Thermos soon on solving the dist. problems for those of us running wet kits on short runner manifolds[LT1/miniram] hopefully the N2O bar can be rotated to solve the lean out problem.

Re: nitrous

Im running a 150 shot on my 305 and the hit feels nothing like what I thought. I just dont feel it that much, yeah sure I can feel the rpms going up and can feel the car surge but its nothing like I thought it would be. THe torque is not what I thought either....tires dont break loose at all, they will if Im going from a dig but if I hit it at like 40mph its nothing...

I run on the way rich side anyways so im using the 150 N2O pill and the 100 fuel pill on my NX wet kit.

Could I be doing somthing wrong? when you tune for nitrous what is it you do? Im stuck...

oh and my times in my sig are without the nitrous

Re: nitrous

wishmaster.
100 fuel pill and 150 nos should be lean/ but your plugs will tell the true story.

start experimenting with your pill sizes, put brand new plugs in, good gas, and just keep leaning till you start to see it too hot on the plugs, then add some safety back in.Make a one gear spray pass[with as much traction as you can] and key off right after you reach redline. this will give you a true reading on the plugs.pull as many plugs as you can with the car on the side of the road[or in the pits] and check em.Strap color and the electrode are the important areas to look at.
if you have acces to a scan tool you can watch the knock count to see if youre pinging too, which is helpful.
i would be pulling 4 or so degrees of timing out for your shot.Sunoco or other premium brand gas also.100 unleaded never hurt, but you guys get 93 at the pump-lucky-.
hope this helps.

Re: nitrous

Wishmaster,
Run the 150 fuel jet also. The fuel is needed to make power. Are you pulling timing? Maybe you are pulling too much. I know I pulled 4 degrees of base timing out of my 305 for the 150 shot and it went from running 13.0 to 14.0. A whole lot slower. I put it back to 6 degrees base timing(stock factory setting). I eventually ran 10 on motor so if you look at it that way I WAS pulling a good 4 degrees out. Goodluck!
