newer nose piece on 83 z28?

ok, the nose piece on my 83 z28 is a little beat up and needs to be replaced. what i'm wondering is if a newer nose piece would bolt right in place of the one thats on it. i'd like to get one from like a 91 or 92 camaro becuase they are taller becuase the bottom piece of it is longer and stretches more towards the ground giving it a meaner and lower look. i'd like to have that on my 83 z28 but i'm wondering if it will fit. anybody with some ideas of where i could get one if it would work? thanks

Yes, you can put a different nosecone on your car. I put all of the 87 ground effects, nosecone, and rear bumper cover on my 84 Camaro. I did buy a parts car for $400 that was in pretty decent shape though, otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

The nose is different enough that you'll need all the baffling for the radiator, the metal support underneath, and you'll need to mark and drill holes in your front fender to mount the ground effects that are attached to the cover. And you will need rest of the gfx to look right. Even if you '83 has gfx, they don't hang down as far and will not match up.

If you do attempt this project, you'll need the stamped steel brackets welded to the newer style to mount the rocker gfx. Simply measure their location, then drill the spot welds that hold them on. Then weld them on your '83. The rear quarter gfx will also need to be drilled in a different spot.

Updating the ground effects is a pretty good job that definately requires a donor car or another car in which you can measure the location to drill the holes. Good luck and if you have questions feel free to pm since I just went through this last summer.
