New motor quick questions.

New motor quick questions.
Im gonna keeo it short and sweet. Im probably gonna be picking up a prefossionally rebuilt 350cui to replace my 305cui in my 85 z28. My Z has an edlebrock computer controlled quadrajet, and I already got a Edlebrock non computer AFB style carb for this new motor. I have a HEI vacuum advance distributor, so we are good there too. I have a 700r4 transmission, and I am aware of the lock up torque converter and needing to rig up a switch to operate it since im doing away with computer controlls. Basically, my only question is, will this tranny mount up fine with this new 350. I know my headers will fit, and everything else i need.
(This 350 was out of a fully restored 1954 GMC Pickup show truck. There is only 5K on it, and it's suppose to be pushing 300HP with a performance cam, and edlebrock performer intake.) Here's the kicker, the guy will sell it to me for only 500 BUCKS! I'd be a fool to pass this up.

Re: New motor quick questions.
Th700 will bolt right up. There are differences in the factory 305/350 equipment, namely the 305 usually uses the small flexplate and a starter with inline mounting holes. 350 uses the big flexplate with offset bolt hole starter pattern. But they will exchange as long as the starter matches the flexplate. I've heard that some blocks aren't drilled for both starter bolt patterns, so you have to run only the starter that particular block can take, and match the flexplate to the starter.
One other concern is the location of the oil dipstick. When we put a 350 in my nephews 87, the stock exaust manifolds covered the dipstick hole on the 350 out of my 71. Headers took care of that, so you might be ok there if there is a diffence in dipstick location.
Also, the TV cable mount on the carb is critical. Don't wing that. Make sure and buy the correct bracket for the carb you will end up using, or your tranny will expire in short order.

Can you please enlighten me on this throttle valve cable and how to correctly adjust it? I would like to check it on my 305 currently. Thanks a bunch sir!
