Re: New Member IROCU2

its a pain in the butt

IIRC, you need to pull trim(can't remember what) to access it, push a small metal button to release the ****, turn the nut under the **** to get the switch loose, then wiggle it out, then unplug the wires

What is IIRC? I tried to take the dash off to get to it but no luck. Are you talking about the trim under the dash?

Re: New Member IROCU2

Hey IROCU2 welcome to the board, underneath the dash there is a big plastic trim panel, take that off. Look up from the underneath of where the switch is there is a spot on the bottom of the switch you need to stick a screwdriver in to release the *** (pull the fuse first). Once you get the *** out you are on your own but you should be able to figure it out from there.

Also, IIRC is shorthand for "If I remember correctly". If you can't get it figured out post it in the Electronics section on www.thirdgen.org and I have no doubt someone there could give you better instructions. It's a purely tech site and it's only for the third gen F-bodys.

Re: New Member IROCU2

Welcome IROCU2! Nice to see another 87 IROC 5.7L on the block. Mine now has 73,000 miles and it's starting to need a lot more attention. I still have most of my original paint and the spoiler on my trunk lid is really fading. I have not had a problem with the headlight switch yet, but that gives me something to watch out for.

Good Luck with your IROC!

Re: New Member IROCU2

another 87 iroc over here, only i have the lg4 motor, with a 5speed and t-tops
lt1 soon to come

anyway
on the bezel that holds the headlioght switch {and foglights =)}
it loks like there are 4 screws
torxs head screws
only 2 areal 2 are fake
remove the two real ones, dont rememebr which
underneath the switch itself is a button that releases the ****

if u bought the new switch already (i recommend it) you will see how it works
then remove the harness and whatever screws hold it in place

reassemble and voila
have fun
