Thumbs down Need some help with a leak.

I have a 1984 Camero and when it rains it leaks in the back. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me. The person that sold me the car said it has done it since the day it rolled off the show room floor. Is this a problem with all the 3rd generations or just mine. If you have had this problem how did you fix it? The water leaks into that little compartment in the back and it has molded the carpet. Anyone with any help please let me know before my car floods. Thanks.

I would guess that the rear hatch weatherstripping is damaged or compressed too much to function anymore. Also look for rust holes in the rain channel.

I do have t-tops. They leak too. Would the t-tops leak into the hatch compartment? This is driving me crazy because I have to sweep out the water so it does not rust out my trunk (the large one that the camaros come with). Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a T-top leak, and the water is running down the inside of the chassis to the back.

You'll need new T-top weatherstrip to fix the problem, but in the meantime there is a little oval-shaped flap in the bottom of the trunk that you can open/remove to drain the water out. You can get to it from under the back of the car. At least that way it won't rust out.
