need a radiator!

she blew today and i need a new one for the 91. any suggestions on what type and brand? i want something without any plastic so i don't have the same problems again and i would like one with a trans cooler in it so i don't have to reroute any lines.

any suggestions???

i've heard jegs aluminum radiators are made by the same people as be cool and others....any truth to this as they are alot cheaper? i would like to save money but i want the best possible cooling and reliability. to many aftermarket pieces don't last long...

It's a stock replacement all copper three row core,I think it's a Modine or something like that,I know they are good radiators the company has been around longer than dirt. It was a direct replacement ,old one out new one in ,20 minutes I was driving. I'm very happy with it,cools good ,and looks stock.

Re: need a radiator!

Why not use a nice Griffin aluminum radiator? They're shiny like everything else on your car, and they work really well.

BTW, the magazine article looked good.

Well, the stock one lasted for 13 years. If the new one you get lasts 13 years, would your car still be there? Now, if you really needed the cooling, I would go with Griffin or Be Cool. Be Cool has a specific fit one.

Re: need a radiator!

i'm saying that i'm grateful the stock one lasted that long. through experience on my other gm vehicles using the identical radiator i know that the replacements typically don't hold up as long.

with that out of the way what "core" should my stock radiator be. the place mentioned above contacted me promptly as the website says but they claimed my stock radiator is only a single core?? anyhow they only carry stock replacements, this wouldn't be a problem but since i do need a new one i think i should get something specific to my application.

anyone have any recommendations beyond becool and griffin? if not anyone have any comments on either of these two companies? i don't want to skimp on something but overpaying doesn't sound too good either.

someone must have some experience with these???

You did not mention that it had to be aluminum, and as far as stock replacement,I meant it fit as a stock radiator. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: need a radiator!

no need to be sorry, it was great information for a direct replacement and i appreciate it. i just need something with a little more cooling capacity for my large motor. i wanted all aluminum because of the copper coming with plastic tanks and i don't want to deal with them cracking again.

thank you.

LOL! Ok i'm not sorry, and I understand what you are saying ,and that you want aluminium. Although when I say all metal ,or all copper I am talking about the tanks also ,in other words there is NO plastic on the radiator that I have. I would have gone with something differant if it had the plastic tank myself.
