Angry need info on timing and firing orders v8 350 in a 88 firebird/trans am

I'm new to the mechanics world thanks to a garage messing my engine up... but to the point, I bought an haynes manual and it says the firing order is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 but they was hooked up different then that and it fired but now that I have changed them over to what the manual said they needed to be the ta will turn over but won't fire up.

I would love any info on what may be wrong or anything that may can be done to get her started back up.

The firing order you have listed is correct. If it ran fine before with them on the wrong order, then either your distributor is 180* off or you aren't putting them on in the right order. Consult your book again and doublecheck the wires.

I've seen it where people drop the distributor 180 out and just move the plug wires to make up for it

try putting 1 where 6 is and go from there

If you're running wires that were custom cut for the car, and you have the distributor 180* off, the wires will be all over the place. Been there, done that, pulled the distributor and set it in right and everything fit into place better.
