Need help with VSS on my gta

Ok i've got a 87 GTA that has a speed density setup. Ive been getting programs from alvin anderson at PCMforless.com(great guy). But he says part of my problem is that hes not getting any driving cells from the diagnostic program. He says it may be something with the vehicle speed sensor. First off where is it located and what can I do to check it? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, Bill

The main reason no data is coming from it is that the 86-89 setup uses a seperate VSS Buffer, little yellow box under the pass side dash area. in the 90-92 setup, the VSS goes straight to the computer and then to the cluster.

You'll need to wire up the VSS wires from the tranny to the ECM and from the ECM to the cluster and bypass the Buffer box.

Who did the SD conversion for you?
