is there a way to get the bearing(excuse my spelling) out of the strut tower braces under the hood??
i want to have the braces chromed and in order to do this they need to be removed; anyone ever done this?
i have tried polishing them in the past but the metal doesn't hold up to it very well so i'd like to just plate them. any suggestions on where i could go or who i could ask to find out? there must be some way to do this right?

the strut towers under the hood where the "braces" that hold the struts in place you know, those black stock looking things that have to be removed when replacing the strut. there is a bearing that allows the strut to move when steering.
i want to have the piece chrome plated. to do this it must be removed because of the necessary procedures it will be ruined.
no one has ever chrome plated these or rebuilt one?

Jeff is talking about the bearing plate that the strut sets against at the top. When you turn the steering wheel it allows the strut to move with the wheel turning to the right or left. The three bolts hold the plate you loosen to do a alignment.
Jeff I don't know how you are going to do that . I think they are pressed together. You may try calling some suspension shops and see if anyone sell them allready chromed. I have seen them in chrome so I know what you are talking about. Someone has to sell them. I will try and track some down. Also there is a place on 8 mile near Van Dyke that may have them. I have never been there but they gave me a catalog when I was the manager at the dealership service dept. I am going to bed now so call me later and we will see what we can find.
Jeff you should know by now to call me .
