need help on my 350 sbc
i'm redoing my 83 z28's 350 sbc that i already had rebuilt once with very slight mods(intake, carb, cam&lifters, dress up kit) and i need to get a different block due to a spun rod bearing. i'm getting another block but i'm putting most of the old motors parts back in it and i'm wondering if i could just buy a new set of heads and pistons while its already apart. i want to achieve 10:1 compression on the standard block without boring at all and i'm wondering if there is a good cheap kit where i could buy heads and pistons all in one that would work well together or if i have to buy them seperate what do i need to look for that will match the 2 together well.

Why dou you need a new block becuase of a spun rod bearing??? Did the rod let loose and hit the block? Also did you mean to write should I get new heads or could I get new heads? Because you can definetly get new heads while it is a part.

well i want to get new heads and pistons, i know the old ones are fine, but i want to boost my compression from 8.5 to 10:1 and i want to know if i can do that with just buying new heads and pistons. since the motor is already gonna be apart i figured i might as well replace them and do the mods now. my car is only like 290 hp or so and i want to boost it up to the higher 300's and i figured a 10:1 compression ratio would do it. but i don't know what to buy to achieve this. i want to buy only heads and pistons with the new block becuase i don't have much money at all but the problem is i don't know what kind of combination to buy to get 10:1 compression ratio out of the motor...
