On my world class tranny I have a short throw hurst shifter,set the shiftstop ?
What is the correct way to set the shift stops?(the bolt on the bottom of the shifter? I have left them so they don't even toucj the shifter? They have been like this for years, ut I have only put 1,000 miles on the car in the last 4 years.

Simple: put it in 3rd and run the front bolt down to where it just touches the shifter, then tighten the jam nut. Put it in 4th and do the same for the back bolt. You're done.
All they really do is prevent you from putting too much pressure on the shifting mechanism and bending the shift forks.
