Question Is my 3.08 rear end useless?

All the parts I have seen (for the 10 bolts) are for the 3.23 and higher , both 26 and 28 spline axels.

I want to put a Eaton in my Irocs rear end along with some new gears or swaped rearend with an Eaton what ever I have to do.
Eaton only has posi units for 7.5'' 10 bolts with 3.23 and higher gears.
Now, is it the gears them selves or the carrier?
Could I get the 3.23 and higher posi and some gears for a 3.23 and higher ring and pinion gears and make it work that way? It sounds to easy that way.
Or do I have to swap the rear end because of the carrier?

Zexel-Torsen off of slponline.com has different series carrier posi units, i think one of them would work. do a search for Posi units. there was a thread on here a while ago that discussed this.

If your 3:08 rear is a 10-bolt you are S.O.L. on finding a aftermarket Limited Slip. Start hunting the salvage yards for a 2-series Limited slip carrier. Or try finding a complete rear with the ratio you want.

S.O.L. that's where I thought I would be after I couldn't find a posi after the time I spent looking for one.
I'll just get a later make 3rd gen 10 bolt, I know my favorite junk jard has several of them.
