Msd Boots Hitting Slp Headers

HI Guys,

shoot, some of the boots on my MSD WIRES are hitting my SLP HEADERS,

This is going to kill that boot isn't it?

What can i do,

i have at least 2 that are coming off the engine with 90 degree boots that rub right into the headers.

That sucks - and yeah, it'll probably burn through the insulation in fairly short order.

If you can't re-route 'em away from the header tubes, then you'll probably need to get a new set of plug wires. I also have SLP headers, & I've had good luck with the Taylor "Universal Cut-to-Fit" plug wires found on this page. Only problem with those is crimping the ends on is a minor PITA.

(And just for the record, I've got the headers with the bigger 1-3/4" primaries, so I know they'll work with those or the smaller 1-5/8" headers.)

Hope this helps.

Buy the shorty spark plugs. Im running Accel shorties...Taylor cut to fit wires and Edelbrock headers. I had to use the cut to fit wires because of the way the passanger side cylinder #2 pipe runs right over top so theres not much room to route them in between. I used to run them under the headers and up the back but now I run them up to the front and over. I just like the way they look now.

Ive got junk 1 5/8 shorties on right now and MSD wires as well.Im very careful with routing and run the boot sleeves.I think mine are Taylor but alot of companies make them.a few wires lie VERY close to the header but dont burn cuz of the sleeves.

I can slide a whole business card in-between my #8 and the header.. Wonder if that will be enough tomorrow when I start it?

Re: Msd Boots Hitting Slp Headers

First off do you have 90 deg boots on your wires?? If so try the LT1 metal spark plug shields for your boots. Cost about $1.75 each at the Dealer and they solved my burnt boot problem with 1 3/4 SLP headers. The problem will not go away and will get worse with a miss from that cylinder.
