More Swap Questions
I have a 1994 Camaro with a 3.4L V6 and I am looking to drop a 350 into it. There is currently an L98 out of a 1993 Caprice 9C1 cop car available for sale. It's got about 100k miles on it, engine, tranny and anything I need from under the hood to make it work for $600. My mechanic tells me that the type of throttle body injection on the L98 won't work with the setup I have on my car. Does anyone know if there is an intake and injection system that will hook this engine up to my car? Also, there is an LT1 available, tranny and wiring harness from a recked 1994 Z28 but I haven't been able to get a price on it yet. Should I just go with the LT1? It would probably cost me the same additional amount to buy the extra equipment to make the L98 fit and to put it up to LT1 power as it would to just get the LT1 to begin with...right?
that's a bit confusing.
but i'm not sure why the mechanic says a L98 won't "work with your setup" when you are planning on swapping everything anyway??
it may not bolt to your current tranny...and i'm not sure what it would come with (out of the donor car). so that may be an issue.
but i would swap in the LT1...more power, and everything will be a direct swap since both cars are the same

I would be getting the L98 with tranny....I just wouldn't be getting the computer system....he just said that the injection system wouldn't work with my computer....I'm not exactly sure why, that's just what I was told
I'll be getting the price on the LT1 sometime later today.
I'm hoping I can get it for around $1000 so I'll have enough money left over to get a new exhaust and get a new rear end put it so I won't be driving around in a one-wheel-wonder.
If it's too expensive I might try to just do what I can with the L98

Get an LS1 setup, and ALL the wiring from donor cars, as well as the k-member, crossmember, Steering Rack, and start slapping it together.
If you plan on the LT1 setup, do the same as above with the parts from the LT1 generation, 93-97.
there are other things like fuel lines and senders (depending if you go LS1), but that is down the road after you gather up the main parts.
My brother just finished his 96 LT1`to 02 LS1 swap a few days ago in his 96 Trans Am. He swapped every harness in the car to the 98 wiring to make it is as plug and play as possible.

honestly...that was my first thought too....but i kknow very little about them and didnt' feel like searching.
as for your computer running an L98...yeah...not gonna happen.
for the most part your computer probably isn't compatible with the LT1 either

if it's really an L98 and not an LT1, forget about it. The intake is probably too tall to even fit under the cowl overhang on a 4th gen. You would absolutely need the entire engine harness from an L98 and the wiring would be quite a bit of work (more than you would want to pay for, and it's something most mechanics wouldn't want to bother with). The most direct swap for you would be an LT1, which would require the engine, tranny, entire engine wiring harness and motor mounts.
