More power froom chevy heads? 350....

I have access to a 350 short block, I could get it for next to nothing.
What chevy heads make the most power stock? I wund be using a air gap intake probbaly ( idle to 5500). And a aftermarket cam.
And what cars / trucks could I find them on?

The only problem is you need a special Vortec intake manifold, too.

On the other hand, you can port and polish a set of 305 heads which will work very well on that 350 for not much moola. Follow the link at the end of my sig.

Talking heads

Go with the vortec heads from a 96-99 350, get the heads cut for high lift springs. Keep the stock angle valve job (a three angle will kill about 10-15 CFM on these heads) and run a victor vortec intake, a 750 DP holley carb, and a cam with about a 480 lift and a 230-240 duration @.050. With this combo you can expect to get about 430-450 horse power @ 5500 and about 460Ft./Lbs. @4500 with 11.0-1 compression. Power will obviously be lower with a lower compression ratio.

The iron vortec heads, whether any port work has been done to them will work on our cars. However, if you want to go FI you have to use their manifold. Otherwise, if you go carb, there are more choices. So, if you want to use their heads, you cannot have a SR, MR or HSR setup

Im going to go carb.
Its gonna be going into a rust free, 84 S-10 I picked up for next to nothing. They are really light, so 400ish Horse power Will make it Fly.
Maby If its not fast enought ill add a 100 shot.
But no FI

A Super Victor Vortec manifold is never "Too much" for the heads. As a true car guy I'll ask you this... What is your definition of TOO MUCH? What kept me from getting a Super Vic intake and just doing an RPM Air Gap was low end torque. For better acceleration numbers a Super Vic would be better easily with even my current combo but I drive the car a lot on the street and a lower torque peak would make the car better in Solo 2 racing sitations. Oh yeah and keeping rpms down is a good way to preserve engine life, especially if you aren't running top notch parts.

Choose camshaft accordingly. Goodluck!
