Mod Tips
Hey guys, i just got an 1984 Camaro z28. it has the 305 HO moter in it. the body is in decient shape, the paint is kinda faded and it has some dents (much less than the normal 84 car).
ANYWAY... the point is that it is bone stock (except for a shift kit) and i would like to mod it. here is the problem...im a college student and have VERY limited funds. if anyone has any ideas for perfomance mods at low cost (under 200$$) it would be very helpful

Go to www.thirdgen.org and look in the Tech Articles for the QJet how-to's. That'll make a difference.
Are you talking about the L69? If so that is a good motor. I know a guy who had one and beat the hell out of it and it kept coming back for more. I'd do some of the basic bolt ons and check into manifold/carb options for it. Of course a tune up is good too.
Tune the Q-jet
Search through boneyards for a dual snorkel setup (use a K&N of course)
Replace the plugs/wires/cap/rotor and set the timing a couple degrees ahead of factory
Very cheap, and you'll notice the difference.

thanks for the help guys...the engine is the l69 and it has taken a beating over the years...it looks like the guy who owned it before me tried to rebuild the carb and had a little trouble... the car came with the duel snorkel intake...i would like to replace the carb and put a good exaust system on it....anyone have anyideas other than flowmaster for the exaust?
re5tyt
I'd go with a Hooker cat-back exhaust over a Flowmaster system.
Maybe a performer intake from Edelbrock?
K&N filter is always good and cheap
Advancing the timing to 8 or 10 degees is good like someone mentioned, with some premium fuel.
Goodluck!
Maybe we'll see you at the track this year, either 131 or Mid Michigan

That was part of the HO package.Like AutoRoc said - An Edelbrock Performer or Performer RPM intake with a carb rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing and a decent set of headers and 3" exhaust should really wake that car up. No need to touch the rear, already have 3.42 or 3.73 gears - 3.73 was optional on your auto.
