miniram & thermostat housing?
anyone have or had problems with this area? the way mine is designed i have to put the thermostat in the housing and then try to get it onto the intake which always seems to be a hassle....terrible design. just curious if anyone else dealt with this and found a better solution.

Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
Is the housing hitting the throttlebody or the manifold itself?

Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
Do a search on here and at thirdgen.org, this is one of the many flaws of TPIS.

Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
your serious aren't you...sounds good, give me the 2400 the miniram cost and i'll throw it out just to fix a thermostat problem.
:D |
Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
You wanted options. :p :)
Did you really spend $2400 on a miniram setup? |
Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
not going to go over this...
also, i'm using fastburn heads which doesn't make things any better. ;) |
Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
Sorry. :) I know what you mean about the fast burns. My friend Tony who does my tuning has a set on his 89 Vette and the miniram is pretty much his only option at the moment.
So, back to my question, is it the TB that gets in the way of the thermostat housing or the manifold itself? |
Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
more or less the problem of how it's designed. rather then letting the thermostat rest on the manifold and just put the housing over it with a simple bolt-down procedure it's the other way around which makes it difficult. you have to put the thermostat in the housind and manage to line everything up on the manifold perfect. doesn't sound bad but it's very hard to tell how you have it once it's together......just a poor design.

Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
??? huh???
I was messing around with my thermostat on the miniram just today, and I'm not having any troubles at all. I simply remove the throttle body. In addition, I'm using an early GM waterneck, though I have a TPI waterneck as a backup. I'm not sure how the water will route out of there such that the hose doesn't get tangled in the serpentine belt, but I'm getting there. Dan's miniram project The other view Those pictures are a few days old. It looks a little more complete now. |
Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
you've got the same design....must be a miracle.

Re: miniram & thermostat housing?
I am having problems with my thermostat housing neck hitting the bottom of my throttle body-is this what you are talking about? anyone else out there having this problem? any info is appreciated-
