Might get a 87 Camaro 305 4bbl. Need advice
Hey, what kind of mods would ya'll recommend to boost the power of this car? Exhaust, air intake, new carb(any good ones?).. Also, the car has the 700R4 and 2.73 I think; so where can I get a good stall speed converter? Which speed should I get? Is 2.73 the only gears avalible that year for that model? I really want good 0-60.
Yes, more than likely this is what you have, 305 4bbl, 2.73 no posi.
Anyway, this is basically what I have, but what I am gonna suggest is in my opinion, the only way to go.
Invest in the 305 to 350 conversion kit offered by GMPP. It includes EVERYTHING you need to swap that weak lil 305 out to a 308 hp 350. Uses the same carb with better rods. And includes exhaust and ECm as well. The best thing is it is 100% smog legal in all states. I live in Cali so its a must. But i wouldn't go any other way, for the price, its a steal. I think it was around $4700.00 complete. Which, when you take into account everything that you get, its actually not a bad deal. Anyway, email me if you have any questions.!

You didnt state how much you want to spend.
If you want to wake 'er up for just under two thousand, just do what I did.
Edelbrock 6872 TES headers & Y-pipe $315 from TPIS
Carsound 3-inch slip fit catylitic converter $100
Hooker Aerochamber cat-back $275
Used Edelbrock Performer intake $50
Used Comp Cams roller-tip rocker arms $25
Used Neal 2700 converter $75
Used 305 heads with 1.94 intake valves, ported & polished by me $460
Comp Cams XE262HR cam from Summit $160
3.73 gears: $250 - You install.
That comes up to around $1700 and it ought to get you deep into the 14's in the high 90's. The good part is that a most of this stuff can be reused if you decide to really build a stout 350 at a later date.
