mid to high 11's
What would be the best way to go about getting my car into the 11's. It's a 91 z28 convertible with zz4 355 block tips mini ram tpis zz-409 cam gm fast burn heads long tube headers true duals. custom chip. I havn't taken it to the track to find out what it will do but it does not feel like it could 11 sec. Any ideas?
Re: mid to high 11's
Your first job is going to be some serious chassis work. 3rd gens are not incredibly rigid to begin with, and your convertible is not going to like the amount of power that you'll need to push into the 11's. SFC's and a six point roll bar are the first orders of the day. You MIGHT!!, but I doubt it, find and outlaw track to let you run test and tune without them but even if you do you are going to give up valuable time on your 60' that will require even more chassis flexing hp to compensate on the big end. After that is taken care of, baseline your car with some sticky tires and go from there before you throw any more money at it.
Re: mid to high 11's
I have a set of SFC on my car now. But you think this engine set is good enough to get me close? I would like to find a place that can help me tune my car, near where i live in ohio.
Re: mid to high 11's
If we are going to speculate, I'd say that your putting out low to mid 400's at the flywheel with a nearly equal amount of torque. With good traction and a decent 60' time you should be solid in the 12's for sure. Again this is all speculation. Spend 20 bucks on test and tune night and you will be armed with some solid information to help you reach your goal.
Re: mid to high 11's
That car will be begging for gear at the track, but that will be expensive to remedy since 9 bolt gearsets are getting harder to find.
What suspension mods do you have? LCAs, torque arm, etc?
