Mat Sensor
I would like to bypass the map sensor on my 1988 L98. I think I can put a diode inline of the map sensor, but I dont know what diode I need so that the ecm thinks its 70 degrees out side. If anyone has a idea please tell me?
Not a diode- a resistor. It's a resistance-based sensor. Not sure what the calibration would be, but you can certainly read across the poles when it's cold and see what that resistance level is and then substitute a resistor with similar resistance in place of the sensor.
I haven't done that myself but I have often relocated the MAT sensor over into the air filter box where it's cooler. They get heat soaked real easy in the stock location screwed into the bottom of the intake plenum (the OVEN!). Never gone any faster becuase of this mod, but more consistent from hot to cold and run to run.
