Talking Making my Z28 faster

O k now I bought heads that have the 1.94" intake valve and I`m buying a intake and have a holley 600cfm carb. now I need to know what intake should I get. I need a EGR vavle and the only one I found is the performer egr intake is it much better than stock? I was thinking the performer RPM but no EGR valve and the rpm is cheaper. Should i just go with the rpm intake?

And is there anything I shoud do before put this stuff on like milling the heads to raise comperession? or anything I should do to make the holley better when I rebuild it? thanx

I`m so happy I`m finally doing something to my car to make it faster.

I'd do a little port work since the heads are off already...just smooth off any rough edges and gasket match the intake ports.

The Performer intake is a good step up over the stock LG4 intake. Maybe 20 hp at certain rpms. (The Performer RPM, etc., are hard to fit under the hood of a 3rd gen.)

Go to www.thirdgen.org and look in their Tech Articles for the one on tuning the QJet. You'll be glad you did, it is so simple! And you will really notice the difference! Worth at least 10 or 15 hp in the upper rpm range.

Follow the link at the end of my sig for a good how-to with pics on porting and polishing those heads. Easy as pie but a little time consuming--maybe 20 to 25 hrs. Since you have the heads off already, now is the time to do it! Worth 30 or 40 hp, depending how meticulous you are. By the way, what are your head's casting number?

Good luck and let me know if I can help

I`d tell you the casting number but the guy who did the heads grounded them off but there 305 heads that the intake valve has been enlarged to 1.94 from 1.84 I`ll cheack out the porting link

The performer could be 20hp nice! I`ll be useing the holley 600 cfm carb and is there a difference between the holley stealth egr intake the the performer egr intake? thanxs if I can bolt on 40-60hp I`ll be really happy the car allready has a mild cam so opening up the intake will help the cam out alot

next I guess is a flowmaster

The Stealth might get you a few more hp. But be sure it will fit under the hood.

You WON'T get 40 to 60 hp if you don't port and polish those heads. It is a MUST!

End of sermon
