MAF to MAP?
Have an 88-89 383 TPI that I am rewiring. I was wondering about the advantages, if any, of converting the MAf system to a MAP. the first reason this occurred to me was that the engine is in a Jaguar XJ6 and there isn't much room now for cool air induction. I understand that by doing away with the MAF sensor and associated plumbing, there would be more room front of the intake plenum. Pros and cons? Kits? Cost?
Well, you can do away with the MAF which is pretty restrictive itself plus it makes plumbing the intake tract that much easier. You'll need a new computer, wiring harness, chip and other odds 'n ends. I'd check over on the computer diagnostics/programming section of this board for some info.
Also, the guys on thirdgen.org have a lot of knowlegable people who have done this many times and can probably help out as well.

When I put the TPI setup on my 86 Trans Am, I decided to go with MAP.
You will need the following:
730 series ECM
New Memcal with custom prom to eliminate the VATS
MAP sensor
re-pin the stock harness and add one more connector
New Knock Sensor for the 90-92 MAP cars
That should be all the parts required.

LT4 350, LT4 Hot Cam, T56, 52mm TB, MSD 6A & Blaster 3 Coil,
LT1 3.42 Posi/Disc Rear, Lakewood LCA's & Adjustable Panhard Bar,
Eibach Lowering Springs, 17x9 WS6 Wheels, T-Tops,
Custom 4" CAI w/ K&N Filter, 160*stat.
Autometer TriplePod with Phantom A/F & Boost Gauges.
High Speed Run: 157mph
Best 1/4 mile run: 14.94@91.67mph This was with the LG4 carb setup.

Here's the link at thirdgen.org. We've been discussing this very thing at sethirdgen, too.
