M5 to M6. What all do I need?

I beleave that my m5 has finaly crapped out behind my 350. I was wondering, what all do I need to convert to a M6? Can I use my pedal assembly and flywheel and cluch and slave cylinder and all that stuff? I'm hoping that all I need is the tranny, bellhousing and crossmember. Looking to spend under a grand. Also, does the shifter on a M6 come up in the same location as the M5? I need all the imput I can get here befor I start the swap.

Not sure about the clutch assembly but you need to make the hole in the tranny tunnel about 2" longer towards the back of the car.
Here is a write up on what is needed,

Is the flywheel on the lt1 M6 combo 10.4? If so, then all I need is a clutch. If I have to spend like 1500 buck to do the swap then I'll put another m5 in and put the rest in the rear. Gears and install sound good right about now anyways.

If you're talking about a stock 4th gen 6-speed, The only things you don't have to change are the pedals and the console plate. The shifter hole has to come 2" toward the rear like Zepher said, but the stick will come up in the same place so you can use your console. The T-56 uses a pull-style clutch instead of the push-style that the T-5 uses, which means the slave cylinder has to mount from the back instead of the front. Your bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and hydrauilcs all have to be replaced with T-56 parts to accomodate this. If you have a late-model block then you can use the stock LT1 flywheel, but if it's an early-model (2 piece rear main seal) engine then you need a conversion flywheel from Centerforce. It's hard to do this swap for less than 2 grand.

You can get an aftermarket T-56 that will bolt up to the T-5 bellhousing and use the T-5 clutch, but I don't know what they cost or where to get them.

G-Force makes a beefed up T5 internal kit which is really strong and not too expensive. $600 for all the parts or $1100 for them to beef up yours.
Holds about 650ft/lbs of torque. More than the T56.

You need to do a search on this forum and the tranny forum at www.thirdgen.org and read the 50 million other posts about this topic. The link posted by Zepher would be good to read too. Good luck. Mine went in pretty easily. The toughest parts were mounting the master cylinder and cutting the floorboard.
