Im getting a complete motor with tranny and computer for $1000 or so with 21k miles on it. Im buying a painless wirring harness for $600. So that is about $1600 give or take about $400 for some other little stuff and im looking at a newer engine, that is fast for about $2000. Not to bad. I think the motor mounts are the same, the tranny mount is the same, so i dont have to worry about that crap. Everything else is just wirring witch can be figured out with in a week so its no big deal just intimidating i think. I have to make some phone calls to make sure im for sure on what im going to ge myself into. But i think it will be worth it. later

BTW: if you have the money for a miniram and afrs on a 383, that is almost a for sure setup to get into the 11's. Its definitly worth the money. I dont have to much money so that is why im going with an lt-1 and not a rebuild or building a car or something.

I just got done swapping the LT1 into my 92 firebird tbi, and from my standpoint I say don't do it unless you plan on spending a lot of cash. But if you do check out hpsalvage.com They're great and can answer any question you throw at them. Personally I would get my wiring harness from injectiontechnology.com about $530 shipped with vats bypass included. Also I would use a 1993 ecm because 93 was the only year not to use mass air flow. Stock Hp on the LT1 is 275 up until 95 it hit 285 and in 96 300 all corvette motors(4 bolt main) were 300+. If you have any questions feel free to email me. Also some info you might need If it was tbi you need a stronger fuel pump if it was tpi your fine. if you want to keep ac you have to pound in the cross member, Some say to heat it but by I didn't so it would stay strong and it only took a 20oz claw hammer. My car goes back on the road ina little over a month and its getting a procharger in the next week. To those of you that choose to swap the LT1 good luck it's not that hard but it is time consuming.

I forgot to mention for the guy before my first post. The LT1 motor mounts are not the same. All you have to do is use your stock mounts from your motor. The LT1 has extra holes next to its original mounts.

I just cut a section out and welded it back in place. IMO thats the best way to keep as much strength as possible, plus it looks better than hitting it with a hammer .

I'll bet money you don't have that procharger on yet. I have the kit sitting in my kitchen waiting for some attention but it isn't getting any. Let my know if you find an easy way of putting it on.

What year is the Procharger kit intended for?

If it's for a 4th Gen car...GOOD LUCK. I've already been down that road. I had a kit for an LT1 car, and the mounting brackets mount the head unit right where your steering box is.

A few of us (from the board) did a TON of searching, looking for brackets to allow it all to work. No luck anywhere.

I have noticed how close it sits to the steering box but I think with the procharger unit aimed straight down it will clear. If it doesn't I will modify it and let you guys know. Has anyone put any SC on the LT1 in the third gens? By the way my week is over and I haven't touched it but I will soon.

OK I started messing with the Procharger today and it's not going to fit. With some modification it can but I don't have time for it now so I might post it for sale soon. I think to fit it in the third gens it has to go up a few inches from where it is intended I will have to drill one hole in the mounting plate and add on a couple inches towards the bottum of the plate and only go with three bolts holding it on. And it will need a much longer belt. All this will make it so I have to find somwhere to put the tubing. It is possible but it will be a royal pain. My whole car is modified and engineered so I might go for it. Again if anyone knows of a system that does fit please let me know.

Thanks
