ok my dad got this 1989 z28(305), auto.he got like last month. but before he could even drive it, i bought it off him. i keep talking to him about modding the stock 305 but he keeps saying the motor has to many miles and i will be nothing but problems.. which i get what hes saying.. to my question. would it be worth it to swap over a LT1(i duno any info on the motor yet. my uncle has a good one in he's junkyard that he'll let me have for 1,200. wireing harnesses an all). he also said that the turbo 350 will bolt to the LT1?.. i didnt really get in to it with him. but is this true or did i hear him wrong?

and whats the power LT1 vs 305? stock for stock(i know the power levels are different with different years, but a close number will do)

 

the 305 is somewhere around 200 horse...the LT1 is like 275....1200 for just the engine is not that good of a deal, maybe 1200 for the engine and trans would be mroe like it...also i would not run a LT1 with a TH350 tranny, just get the 4L60E or whatever is on the motor...then you can swap over the computer/harness/trans/motor...it would probably be much easier...also with a TH350 you need to figure out the torque arm mount, and its just a bunch of BS plus its 1 less gear...
