i was wondering has anybody tried. or know someone who has tried, long tube headers with a a complete true dual set up, what mufflers fit? etc etc.. personaly ive elminated the cats and all a.i.r stuff., im going with hooked long tubes, ceramic coated, and custom bent dual system,
any related info would be help ful

When I had my 3rd gen, I saw pics somewhere ( I think it was on 3rdgen.org) of this guy that had dual 2 1/2" pipe in the stock location (no cat) routed all the way back and used the "chambered" Loudmouth type mufflers in the factory location and it worked great. He had it sectioned right before it went over the axle so he could take it apart there if he needed to drop the rearend.
Go search over on thirdgen.org and you should be able to find something.

oh and yes, before i forget to mention this, back in 2004(since i been sitting on this install since then tisk tisk) my mechanic who rebuilt my rear was also told to put in custom subframe connectors out of roll cage bar, since there thicker he ran the driver side with no problems but couldnt do the passanger side cause the exhaust sits in front of the front sub frame, so besides the fact of runnin on one subframe connector for four years, im thinkin this may pose a more difficult routing situation for 2 3inch pipes
if you can run dual 3" pipes on a 4th gen, you can run em on a 3rd gen.
2.5" pipes are sufficient up to about 500hp, 3" is good to about 800hp
so unless you're making one NASTY motor....stick with the 2.5". you'll get better clearance and lighter weight.
i home-fabricated this setup for my 4th gen. laying on my back in the driveway. had a shop do the final welding. obviously it would be a little different for your car, mainly due to collector location. but you get the idea. i used a Summit universal Xpipe setup, and some extra pipes and flanges. cost less than $200 for parts (without mufflers), and i think $130 for the mufflers (magnaflow 4x9s).

i've got subframe connectors on my car. they are aftermarket not custom though.
or you could do something like the bassani setup like on mrr23's cars:
some installed pics
the system

Most of the 3th Gen. sub-frames look like the BMR ones.: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=6&pcid=36
It's not that hard to mod. the short pieces that go from the long tubes to the trans. tunnel.
You could do this, =O=, for instance.

I'd look into the Stainless Works long tube headers that Hawksthirdgen sells rather than the Hookers. The Stainless Works headers tuck in nicer.

thanks for the extensive help you guys have been great, at this time i have decided to just go 2.5 pipe all the way back, cheaper and easier, and isnt life or death on a relativly stock 305(besides headers, ram air and gears)
