Re: long tubes on an 87 camaro with 5 speed???
i used header wrap in this area in my old set up and made an aluminum shield for the slave, after i melted one from heat and resulted in a small hydraulic fire
had to find out the hard way, after that with the mods made never an issue again.....i would however check your level of power as mentioned previously,if extensive mods are not in your future i think LTs would be overkill!!

Re: long tubes on an 87 camaro with 5 speed???
i have a set of $119 heddman LT's and they tuck up nicley...although if you dont have a thermal barrier between them and the slave it will melt..

hooker longtubes here... no need for a heat shield, everything is fine... i would take ap icture, but its raining out
if i remember correctly, the heads go under the oil filter and the slave is next to the oil filter (i remmeber this cuz it makes it a pain in the *** to get it off by hand) so everything on my setup is plenty far away from the header...
