Light under Center Vent??
Ok, I know this sounds a little picky, but thats just the way I am, I like for all the little things to work just as I do the big things on my car. I'm not sure about the older Camaros but I know that on the IROC's, under the center vent where the dash is, there is a little light that is supposed to light up the shifter area and the console area, it's a really faint light and once it goes out not many people know its there. I've gone to the dealership and have asked about it, well they discontinued the part about 3 years ago. I was wondering if anyone had tried replacing the bulb inside it without going to a junk yard and finding a replacement, besides I've tried that and more than likely the bulb is also burnt out in the replacement. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, if so please post. Thanks again.

It provides a faint diffuse light. More so to provide a sense of depth perception. Without it the interior would be a little disorienting with a giant "black hole" in that area. I've had the unit out, but I can't tell you what the bulb number is. Take yours to the Auto Parts store and match it up with a new one.

I always see it, never think about it.
Do Z28's also have this feature. I saw it in my friends 88 IROC and he told me mine would have it as well. No biggy, but I thought it was an unusual option. THanks guys!

Yeh, I pretty much found it by accident too, I tried taking it to an auto parts store and they didn't have anything like that, I even showed it to the service parts at my local Chevrolet dealership, the part is DISCONTINUED!! So I was just wondering if anyone else had done anything to fix it??
i've got it in my 89 rs and i had to replace the bulb but i doubt you'll be able to get it the way i did. I worked for my dad's fir alarm company and when i installed a fire alarm panel i for some A.D.D. reason i noticed it looked like my dimmer light in the shift gate vicinity. Mine was out so it tried it and i worked. Ill see about lookin in my car and findin where you can get that part. i know it cost 38 cents from a fire alarm company
