Letting motor sit

I'm planning on a new motor by next fall. I plan on a Vortec headed cammed TPI motor. If I fall into some money, a SuperRam would be nice but until then just your basic TPI setup. If I come across an L98 for a deal and buy it, what should I do with it until I get the rest of the parts? I imagine it will rust if I just leave it on the engine stand for 10-12 months.

If you keep it in a cool dry area, and wipe it down with oil real good it wont rust.

SOAK it in WD-40 about every month or so. It's a great rust preventive. Just make sure you clean it up real good when you build it.

You can also soak it and then seal it up in a garbage bag or something but then you don't get to look at it and daydream.
