lemon finder 2003

I am currently in the market looking for an 87-89 camaro and i went downtown to go look at an 87 350 auto. This car looked great...as long as you happened to stay at least 20 feet away from it. It's when you set foot infront of the 20 foot marker that things started to go bad.
heres the list :
-Recently painted and a ****ty *** job. As you look around the edges of the car you can see that the paint is starting to bubble a bit.
-I had been told to look at the left and right side front tires to see if they had even wear on them. If worn unevenly its good evidence of a twisted frame due to collision. The right front was noticibly more worn down on the outside corner then the left was. I wonder why it was recently repainted and cheeply?
-As you know the vin # is bolted down by two stainless steel rivets and even if the vin number is scratched out/rusts out you should still be able to see the rivets....there was nothing there it had been taken right off they had a gm sticker on the inside of the door with the number
-when i started the car a small plume of oil rose up from the block then subsided as the car ran
-engine was having a rough time turning over
-no history at all on the car
-hood wouldnt stay up on its own
-when you looked inside the hood the top of the passenger side strut tower had started to rust through
-how many more points do i kneed?~?~?

AND THEY WERE ASKING 7900 DOLLARS (canadian) !!!!! I think its worth what maybe a grand in parts??? whats your opinion

its not intended as a parts car but with some of the messed up stuff on that car you would have to strip it bare and do some major rebuild work....the place was really weird though they had a couple of old mustangs and porsches and the one camaro on the edge of the lot. But inside their huge show room they had like porche 911 carerra gt twin turbo's a few ferraris, vipers etc.....they got the ones outside as trade in. The sales guy i talked to said they take it as trade and if it doesnt sell they dump it at auction...

with the VIN being messedwith I would stay clear of that car You dont know if the car was stolen or what. the VIN on the door might not even be the right one for that car. I would say Turn it in.

i agree that you should turn it in.

i don't agree on the frame damage aspect. there are alot of things that contribute to uneven tire wear and just because there are indications of uneven use doesn't mean the frame is damaged. however it does mean there is definately a problem somewhere and you should take it into account. usually it's from mis-alignment and improper use of air pressure but there are other things as well.

Even if there is no frame damage if its been like that long enough to notice serious diffrence in wear you could have some other serious problems to deal with
but overall the car was a pos just thought id make a post as to some of the weird stuff you encounter when looking for a car
