L98 TPI to carb?

I have an 88 L98 in my Iroc and I am considering possible routes to take when I get some money to build it. When I decide to rebuild it, would it be possible to make it carburated? What all would need to be done to make it work. I was thinking just take all the fuel injection stuff off and put on a standard carburated intake and carb? Looking through summit got me doubting this since some things say "pre 1987 block". Anyways I know it might be a stupid question but just looking for some help, thanks.

Yes, it is possible to remove the TPI setup and just use a standard intake and carb. The reason you see intakes that are labeled pre '87 is because starting in 1987 GM used centerbolt style heads and hyd. roller cams for most of their car applications. These heads have a different intake bolt pattern in them, and will require a slightly modified intake.

DAMN RIGHT IT CAN BE DONE!!

its the best thing ull ever do as long as u can deal with the gas mileage loss.

the computer is still in my car,the only thing it does is turn on the factory electric fuel pump.

ditching the TPI and swapping it over to carb makes it so much easier to make cheaper horsepower.

Thanks for the info guys, I found a tech article on Thirdgen.org about this, doesnt seem too hard. How much did your gas mileage drop? Doesnt really matter since I'll do it anyways . How much power do you think your setup is pushing Rice Killer? This is a huge load off my chest. To think, I was going to buy a stealthram and all the other sh*t associated with computer controlled cars. I've heard stories of people trying to build their TPI car and never getting it started again, looks like I wont/shouldnt have that problem.
