Why would you want older heads just because you are switching to a carb. Do you just love to ditch new technology for whatever junk castings you can find?

Holley makes a nice TBI unit that plugs right to the stock wiring ( they also make a 1/4" tall than stock Aluminum Intake)... While you have the heads off this would be a good time to get a little better cam.... that with a custom chip will help you out alot. And maybe later add SLP headers and a flowmaster with K&N filter, and Hell you might even suprise the TPI boys... Goodluck

Re: L98 heads on a tbi 350

working with what you got,i did this many years ago(1991) 383 shortblock,186 '71 corvette heads 1.94int.1.60ex comp 12-404-4 cam,tbi performer int,454 inj.,home made afpr, hooker headers,2400 stall,3.23 gears,no custom chip, and this lil ol 88 iroc ran 13.5 and got 24mpg(hwy)i changed a few things,zz9 cam,afr heads202/160 1.6rr and full ex.(amer.thunder)then a custom chip cause it did not want to hold idle,it surged till i got the right chip thanks to PERFORMANCE RESOURCE i ran 12.6 with a 1.70 60',2 broken rear ends i was good to go AUSTRALIAN 9bolt
moral to the story is the tbi is fuel efficient, accepts upgrades and runs very well when maintained properly..does it make hp not really but it does make tq very nicely.many guys at www.thirdgen.org (shiftycapone) are having great success as well as a few at www.fullsizechevy.com (airdeano) check em out..
