K&N filter installation?

I want more performance and a better look so I want to remove the existing air filter and replace it with an after market induction kit. K & N is the best from what I hear and I plan on getting one. I want it open air for better airflow and it looks much better. SO anyone have pictures of it done? I want to know where to get them and what the price is going to be about? I was told the installation is similar for the Camaro and Firebird. Any insight?

K&N doenst make a cold-air kit for our cars. They only make replacement filters.

SLP does though, as far as I know, i think it may be pricey, but they make a cold air intake, quit honestly, i think the home made forced induction to the spots fo fog lights is better

Thanks. I plan on just getting a universal open air cone filter now.

hey, they say chrome don't get ya home, but I like things shiney, lol. I love that saying I'm the biggest violator, I love the chrome, knock on wood no problems lately, but there was a time I was having problems out the *** just to have the nice stuff, I think it all comes with how responsible you are and how good of car you take of the car to keep good looking stuff performing well.

you want performance and looks, adapt your own airbox and get a ram air hood, just my two cents.

I always wondered about that, I mean, wouldn't it be drawing in the nice cool air behind the radiator fan? Seems to me like it would be a better setup than the stock air intakes... would look tons better, to me anyway.

Anyone know if it would be better (performance wise) to just ditch the 2 air ducts and slap a cone filter on the MAF of a TPI?

Ummm....no.

The "nice cool air" behind the radiator is actually nice hot air that has just been heated up by the radiator. Engine compartment air is hot. That's all there is to it. It gets heated up on the way in through the radiator and it gets heated up more by the exhaust manifolds. The stock filters take air from the front of the radiator because it's cooler there. Putting a cone filter on a TPI intake will probably actually cost you a horse or 2.

Home-made ramair will get you more power...a K&N in the engine bay won't.

I want to replace the closed box in the front left (looking at the car) with an open one for better air flow. I imagine if it is in the same spot there will be no difference in the air. Just more air available becuase there isn't a plastic box. I care more about performance than looks in this case.

In that case, just get the Sawsall out and cut that dumb air box away for more air and performance. It should be worth at least 15 HP.

Can I really just cut the box away? Has anyone done anything like this? I need more airflow. I get this feeling the car needs more air.

That search helped me alot. Now my main problem is my car has an air temp. sensor in the airbox. How do I relocate it?
