I bought a 1984 Camaro Z28 H.O yesterday (and i thought it ran great) Soo this is what happened. I was at a light, tried to put my car into first then i heard a loud popping sound. Now no matter what gear the car is in, it wont move (acts like its in nuetral) I put the car in 1st, looked underneath the car and the driveshaft is spinning. My girlfriends dad said my differential is blown. How much does this cost to fix/replace, and how much more to put in LSD. I have a 1984 Z28 H.O. I also have a (non functional) 1995 Camaro V6. (anyone want any 4th gen parts?) Can i swap the differentials, or would that not work?
omg dude thats horrible. i would drive that hting threw(well push it through) the sellers front door. honestly from what i heard differentials are no big deal you can buy a used for cheap or you can put performance gears in your housing for like 400 bucks for the entire kit man good gears. plus the labor if your not good with presiicion work. then you can paint it nice grey get the indianapolis graphics and make into a look alike pace car

I feel your pain. I bought my 86 in 2000 in Tulsa oklahoma, drove it all the way back babying it. Once I was home drove it like I stole it and the trans blew within 7 days of purchase. But their almost considered classic cars. I found a totalled 97 SS Aniversary in the paper the guy sold me the rear end, the adjustable pan bar, koni shocks, for 250. Bolted right up and I liked the wider stance on the car when I put stock 16's for the time being. Disc Brakes and a Fairly new rear, you will need a proportioning valve also. but it really is great. I have the part number you will need for the e-brake to work.
