Question Jet Chip worth it???

Is the Jet chip worth it? I have an 86 305 4bbl 5spd. Was thinking to get the stage I kit. Does it make a nice improvement? Is stage II any better? I have K&N air cleaner and hi-flow exhaust.

From what I've been able to see, it doesn't look like the module is programable. I got an hppIII for my 01 S-10 and it was very much worth the money.

I just would like to get any comments on the stage I or II Jet chip. Thanks!

Just don't look for any great increases in performance.

No, definatley not. I threw mine away quite awhile ago. Worst $40 I ever spent. All it was supposed to do is advance the timing curve a little and change TCC lockup. Did nothing but require the use of 93 octane. You will not see a performance improvement. A fuel injected car would see a difference however... You'll notice more of a difference in advancing the base timing. I guess its time to update my sig

I don't mind using 93 oct if it also improves my mileage. I programed my 01 S-10 for 93 and it was well worth it, the savings in gas more than pays for the price diff and allot more power. OK, guess you are talking me out of it though.

Just got it inspected Friday and it drives like a new car, I really like it. My wife was even impressed. All original, only 76k miles.

It sure didn't improve the gas mileage. The only reason I needed to use 93 octane was due to intermittent detonation problems with anything less. I took the chip out and can run 87 without a hint of detontation.

They don't do squat in a carbed car, the only reason I ever used chips is to eliminated limiters.

Best I found was $70 and that was on ebay. Jet wants $160 or something.
