It's track time!

going to moroso tonight (friday, sept. 19) with a few of my friends to see what my car does... anyone got any suggestions on what rpms to take off at? should i just hold the break and then slam on the gas when the light turns, or should i hold the break and raise the rpms till it turns green, then let go of the breaks? im not used to automatic, thats why im asking questions... i want to get the best times i can possibly get with a stock weight car and a good take off thanks for all your help! ill update tonight when i get home and tell you all what i ran

btw, after working on my car all night (2 days in a row, trying to fix the a/c condenser and a few minor mods), i ran into a new porsche carrera 4 on the streets and decided to take a run at it. he was already in gear when he hit it and i found myself creeping up to him dirty! i was about a car and a half behind him at 30 and by 120 i was right next to him and ready to pass him! when i got next to him though he stopped before i could pass him, lol. i thought to myself, "na... he must have been in a high gear when he hit it... he shouldnt have underestimate the iroc" lol. so then we ran it off the light and i jumped on him dirty... i got about a car infront of him when he started creeping up on me! he pulled about a car on me by the end of his third gear and then _I_ started to creep up to him again! he stopped though while i was about 4 feet from his bumper (115mph) and gave me a thumbs up when i passed him. pretty cool guy i guess... bet he didn't think it was gonna be that close lmao

but not to change subjects... how should i launch? thanks guys!

iight... here's the story.

starting off, i was running 15.17-14.96's... didnt know wtf was going on with the car for it to be running that slow! thought the tranny was slipping but i wasn't sure yet because my tach doesnt work :\ then i ran into my friend's cousin who owns his own shop called GM Express. he told me my fuel injectors were clogged and that my cats are probably clogged as well (which would also explain why i have this bad gas smell going into my car when my car's running and it's at a stop) and thats why im not running as hard as i should. we noticed the timing was at _13_!!! so he reset the computer and put it to stock timing. it was the last run of the night so i really didnt get to test out how much the timing helped me, but with an OK take off peeling out for abour 25 feet (due to my friend taking off too much air out of my tires [only had 10 lbs in the rear tires, wtf]), i ended up running a 14.81. probably would have ran a 14.6 if i had good air pressure in my tires. race weight was 3600 lbs with me in the car... atleast 50 lbs of tools and a hitch on the back of my camaro that i wanna take off that probably weighs about 50 lbs as well

anyways, im going to my friends shop tomorrow so they can take off my cats, remove the smog pump, do a tb bypass, air foil, change my fuel filter, and clean out my fuel injectors.... they told me to bring the iroc and a 12 pack and they'd give me something to break 13's next time i go back to the track (which would be this friday comming up). i can't wait!

oo and btw, im hoping im right when i say this but now when i punch it off the whole, i hear a really nasty thud come from my car. my friend (he used to own a 10 second trans am) told me it's my tranny mount so i guess i might as well have it replaced tomorrow.

and out of 6 runs, i won all of them except 1 - lost to a LS1 camaro. it was test and tune night at moroso so you just line up with whatever's next to you and that's who you ran. i smoked an old school 300zx, schooled a 90 5.0 mustang and beat a 2002 4.6 mustang by .3, barely beat an LT1 by .1 (he had a ****ty launch), and the best one of all... the one that im glad i raced... was when i spanked the crap out of a supercharged gs-r. 14.81 to 15.46 got them all on video so hopefully if i get my website up i can upload the videos for you ppl to download them. im out, peace guys!
