It's bout the fans.......

Hello everyone,

This post actually pertains to a 2nd gen Camaro (gasp!) but I thought you guys would be better to ask in the 3rd gen room.

I am planning to use a dual electric fan setup to keep my car cool. What I plan on running is a 350 V8 with Vortec heads, an XE268 Cam, RPM intake....and in addition to that, I am going to run A/C. (Florida summer + vinyl seat = ouch!) I am going to use an aluminum radiator as well.

My main question is about the fans.....I have noticed that 3rd generation cooling fans are a lot cheaper to buy that LT1/LS1 fans. Are they any less efficient or effective, or is the price difference simply due to the fact that they are older? Do the 4th gen fans pull more CFM or anything?

Basically, just asking if I would be okay using a 3rd gen dual fan setup. Just wondering what opinions you guys had. Thanks a ton!

Been there, done that, and in a 2nd gen. I don't see why a dual fan setup from a 3rd gen wouldn't work. I would measure the radiator and compare it to the shroud/fan assembly and make sure they are pretty close. If not, there are several companies who make dual fan kits for aftermarket aluminum radiators. Out of curiosity, where are you in FL?
