Interior questions

I've got a 92 RS Camaro. The plastic piece that covers the gauges (speedometer, temp etc...) is a little fogged up from the inside. Its been like that since I bought it. I just need to wipe the other side of the plastic so that its clear again. How can I take it out to do that, and would it be hard for a person like me that doesnt work on cars? Its gettin a little worse so I'd really like to clean it. And another quick question. I'd like to get new carpet (I have a tan interior) because mine is stained in various spots after 11 years of use. Where would I go to have someone replace the carpet for me? I will not do the work myself, definitely not. What type of places do that? How much would it probably cost for new carpet plus labor? I dont plan to have new carpet installed in the hatch, cuz its in fine condition still. Also when I do this, I'd like to have leather seats installed cuz my seats are ripped and broken. So my question is how much would it probably cost to get decent leather seats and carpet installed at the same time? Thanks for any help!

Ok, tha piece is very easy to remove. There are 8 T-15 screws holding the black gauge cover on. Takethose off and that piece pops off. Then there are like 4 metric screws holding that clear piece on. Its simple you will see it.

As far as interior goes. new carpet on ebay from ACC will run around 200 bucks plus shipping. Having it installed might run you. And if you want goo looking leather, try some 4th gen leather seats. They are very affordable, and look sweet. They will fit in without a hitch, Try ebay for these as well. Hope it all works out man!

yea the cover thing isnt hard to get off at all. make sure you disconnect the rear defrost/cig lighter. they're plugs it might seem like youre gonna break it but itll come. and same for the light switch. pull it out, there might be somethin you have to push to get it out i forget. as far as seats def do 4th gen. they bolt directly in and wont run you near as much as any other kind. have you tried cleanin youre carpet with some really good stuff? i imagine you could have a body shop or maybe even a dealer install it for you. id consider doin it yourself, labor aint cheap.

Whats the black gauge cover? How do I get to these screws? Do I need to take the dash pad off or anything? I just need to know how to get to the screws.

As for the 4th gen seats, do the rear ones really fit perfectly? That would mean the the dimensions of the rear seats are exactly the same on 3rd and 4th gens, right?? How much do those seats run new?? Where could I order them new?

If I were confident in my abilities to do this job I'd do it myself, but I dont want to risk messing something up especially since I have NO idea how to do this. You also said "make sure you disconnect the rear defrost/cig lighter" how do I disconnect it?? And again, where are the screws located? I havent really looked at it closely so if its obvious where the screws are forgive me. I'll check it out next time I get in my car.

Oh and the reason I want new carpet is I had a heater core leak about a year ago and the engine coolant spilled all over the interior on the passenger side. It was an expensive mess! Besides that, its faded a bit over the years and its worn. Its just not nearly as nice as it was 11 years ago I'm sure!

ok under the steering column is a vinyl cover next to the fuse panel. its got Torx screws holding it in, once you take them off you'll have screws holding the black cover on. take them out and the cover should come right out. you DO NOT have to take the top dash pad off. pull the entire gauge assembly about 2-3 inches forward then you will be able to disconnect cig lighter/rear defrost. then youre going to have to swiggle the assembly forward more (make sure not to break the tripometer handle thingy, if you have a trip) now there should be 4 screws holding the clear piece to the rest. take them off and POOF. this is from memory so i may not have included all details.
rear seats are exact, all 4 bolt right in no problems there.

Sweet, I'll have to look into getting 4th gen seats. Should I go to the dealer to buy them? And how much do they cost new? Whats a tripometer? My cars stock, do I have one? If so whats it look like? When you say pull the entire gauge assembly forward, are you talking about the speedometer and RPM gauges, etc?? Do you mean I'll need to move the forward to be able to get to the screws that hold the clear plastic piece in? Thanks again!

Tripometer...under the Odometer you can push a stick in for like long trips to see how many miles you drove
Yes, when i say pull the entire gauge assembly forward im talking about Tach/Speedo/Fuel/etc. well once the cover is off you can reach behind and there are the screws. the cover itself will come come off and you will be left with the clear thing attatched to the gauges.
do not get the seats new from a dealer im sure theyll run you $400+ find em in a yard or on the for sale section or soemthin.
