Re: Intake Upgrades

Is money a factor here?

(Have) TPIS Miniram Page 17 or go to intakes(one piece intake, 8 intake bolts and a Throttle body).

(Read alot about) LT-1 Intake conversion, intakes cheap but you have to have external water lines.

(Worked on one) SuperRam, a bitch to bolt together (trying to get the upper plenum on the runners) on the car. Also there seems to be more error for vacuum leaks.

(Worked on one) Holley Stealth Ram not a bad intake, 2 piece design.

I thought at one point one of the magazines had done a comparison of the Chevy EFI intakes but I don't remember who or when.

Also AFR heads are good
Dart Pro 1's
Twisted Flo Heads

There are others but I can't think anymore

Re: Intake Upgrades

I think the HSR (Holley Stealth Ram) is your best money option and you can use your injectors and other items that you already have. Heads can wait for a little while the TPI is good for low end torque and the HSR miniram and others move it to midrange to upper RPM. With the stock runners and intake the engine will usually stop breating good by 5500 rpm on a 350 cid

Re: Intake Upgrades

aren't the GM vortec heads a worthwhile inexpensive upgrade on heads? i know you have to do some machine work for the intakes to fit, but for the price it may be worth it.

just some info

Re: Intake Upgrades

Yeah they are but you still have to buy a different intake base to mount to the votec heads, scoggins-dickey I think is the on that was producing the intake to adapt the TPI to the heads.

Re: Intake Upgrades

heard too many horror stories about tpis but they do make a nice intake.

Lt1 intakes can be modified through some machining to fit on our cars. The lt1 is based off the tpis mini-ram.

Holley Stealth ram is great for engines that go to 5500 rpms.

Accel super ram is great for high hp motors and flows to 6500 rpms.

As far as the vortec heads, they make a ramjet intake for them that is really expensive, but its absolutly amazing.

Not quite that easy - you'll need to get 6' of -6AN fuel line (or two 3' sections) & the associated fittings to adapt the HSR to your existing fuel/return lines. You'll also need to buy a different thermostat housing, & a few other (minor) misc. pieces. Complete details should be at StealthRam.com.

Not a really big deal to adapt to our cars, but it's not just a simple R&R process either...
