Not sure of the cost but because 3rd gens are made as either hard tops or t-top cars the roofs are different. I imgagine that it is cheaper to get a removable glass moon roof, like the older 5.0 Mustangs had. I guy at my college has an 87 firebird with the a moon roof installed. He said it was cheaper than getting t-tops and ran about 800 installed when he got it done. Not as much air flow as the t-tops but it gets the job done if you want to grab some sun. Although the one he had, like the older 5.0's either opened 3 inches upward, or came out, there was no in between like a power moon roof on newer cars.

If you want T-tops just trade your car for a T-top car, don't butcher yours, plus it would cost a lot to have it done properly. And yes it will weaken the unibody structure a lot so sub-frame connectors would be required, but they should be installed anyway on our cars.

t-top conversion are like 1500-2500$ depending on where you go, it's by no means worth it, buy a different car

Go to a body shop and make sure the frame is on the money. Get SFC welded in and then chop it around if you must.

You cant cut out the shape of the t's into your current roof. YOU must have a donor t'top car to cut the top off of at the a pillars and b pillars. I cant remember what website it was but they charge 1500 to just convert to t's, I think it was something like kittcustoms or something like that not sure tho.

thanks for the replies...I actually know someone in town who has a 91 RS that he converted all by himself, welded what he needed to and got the t tops free (not sure how)...other than the labor, it costed the guy no money at all...not a professional, but the car looks great and he had the sense to weld..I don't know, you tell me
