im trying to twin turbo an 86 camaro
I have been looking into puting two turbos in My 86 5.7 Iroc. But My question is weather the stock computer and the stock engine keep up with the two T3/T4 turbos. And what about the trany? I dont think that it will hold.
if its a 5.7 i'm pretty sure its a tpi motor.
nothing in your stock 22 year old drivetrain will hold up to a TT setup. You will have to replace your tranny, rear end, drive shaft, as well as stiffen up the chassis.
I killed 2 stock 3rd gen rear ends and many 700-R4's with just a lightly modded 350.
If you don't do it before the TT swap, trust me, you will be doing them after..... save yourself some headaches and do it right the first time.

Cut to the chase, you are going to be looking at a very large investment by the time it is all done. I don't know what kind of budget you have to work with, and I'm not saying it can't be done either. Could you provide some more details on what you currently have in your car, what kind of budget you have to work with, what kind of timeframe you want it done in, and what kind of power goals you are looking to achieve?
Nothing will hold up. You need a trans and torque conv. especially for a turbo engine.
Just put a ZZ454 GMPP crate in there.

Or a brand new LT1

"however. 1986 iroc-z came with either the 5.0 305 or the 5.7 350."
INCORRECT
87 was the first year of the factory 5.7L engine in the 3rd gens...period
trust me...i've been researching this and dispelling this myth for more years than you

Bruenrostro, I think the short answer is ...no.
You will not be able to create a reliable twin-turbo package that uses a stock EFI computer, stock transmission, and stock rear differential. Not unless you are willing to dial down the boost to almost nothing, just to see yourself get passed by some stock LS1 or modified N/A 350.
In order to properly apply the power of a twin turbo package, you must start first with the suspension system, followed by axle, followed by transmission, followed by EFI system modifications, followed by engine improvements, then topped off by the actual twin-turbo itself. To do it any other way means you are willing to risk being left on the side of the road with a broken axle, transmission, or melted piston.
