I want to supercharge my TPI
I currently have a 94 camaro v6 and i basically got a 86 vette TPI and tranny for free. I was planning on doing the swap but i wanted to get a supercharger just to make sure i have enough power because i know TPI have a lot of torque but not so much horse. Any ideas where I can get a supercharger for this TPI it is a 5.7 liter.

I am wondering how much mpg would i get if i got a supercharger because right now with the 5.7 TPI i get 16mpg so me and my friend were arguing and he said i would get like 9 mpg?
Re: I want to supercharge my TPI
My gas mileage wasn't affected very much. Maybe 1-2 mpg total, but then again it's hard to resist getting on it. It's nice to hear the whistle and feel the kick in the pants. Almost forgot, you will most likely need larger injectors because the stock 22 pounders aren't going to cut it.
My heads and cam affected the gas mileage more than the blower did.
Aklim, I've always read that the F bodies were around 9.3:1 compression with the 64cc iron heads and the Vettes were around 9.5:1 with the 58cc aluminum heads. Also, a true 9:1 compression is good for 10+ psi with an intercooler or a methanol kit on the street. I wouldn't hesitate to run a well maintained L98 at 10 pounds. If I were to swap in a set of forged pistons then more boost would definately be on the menu. FWIW, one of the 383s I'm building is for my 97 TA, it's about 9:1 compression with 58cc LT1 heads and I intend to run around 15 PSI on the street with a PT76GTS or PT88 turbo. The other is for my truck and at 8.5:1 it should see about 14 PSI on the street from two TO4B turbos. Turbos are more fun.

Yes, you can run 9:1 with 10 psi but you need an aftercooler or something to cool the air charge. The thing I did not like about turbos is that you need some sort of intercooler which adds to the complexity of the system. As if we had that much space in our already cramped quarters. Of course, if we were to go that route, I would not hesitate to put the supercharger int eh car. I always thought it was a waste to run 5 psi boost becayse you pay the same or close to the same as a blower making 15 psi.
I would agree that properly set up, turbos are great because there is less parasitic power drain. However, the routing is going to be a nightmare in that small engine bay. Also, turbos love a large exhaust pipe so again, clearence is an issue
Re: I want to supercharge my TPI
procharger (ati) has a chart on there site for tpi cars. basically, if you go over 6psi on any system from any manufacture, you will need an intercooler. some people will disagree but if you run more than that you will have to **** away a but load of fuel to keep away detonation or pull the timing, both ways will kill power.
Re: I want to supercharge my TPI
I'm running an intercooled procharger p600b on my tpi. I make a bunch of hp and a boat load of torque (see sig) for a basically stock motor (tpi's are torquey anyway). Just make sure to check a/f on the dyno - no more than 12.5:1 and it should be good. I get no detonation, but should it occur, just back off on the btm. Also, my stock comp ratio is 9.3:1
Re: I want to supercharge my TPI
All the later 350 TPIs I took apart had 58cc chambers and a nice 16-18cc dish in the piston. The math adds up to 9.5 or so on a 350 so I'd say the 9.3 would be what it was like said.
